LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Kannapolis was held to one run in nine innings, but they put two runs on the board in the 10th inning to beat the BlueClaws 3-1 in extra innings Friday night.
With one out and Adam Heisler at second base, Bill Rice singled in front of Kelly Dugan in right field. Heisler raced around third base to try and beat the throw from Dugan which was on-line and shoulder high, but couldn't be held by Josh Ludy. Kannapolis led 2-1 and Rice eventually scored on a two out double to make it 3-1.
The BlueClaws and Kannapolis continue their four-game series Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood will send Hoby Milner (4-2, 3.20) to the mound to battle Kannapolis' southpaw Jarrett Casey (5-6, 5.90).
First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
