HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads rallied for three runs in the seventh to gain a two-run advantage on the Delmarva Shorebirds and held on for the 4-2 win before 2,828 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Tuesday night. The Crawdads gained a game in their Northern Division lead, pushing it to two games over the Hagerstown Suns.

Hickory (28-18) trailed, 2-1, entering the seventh inning against Shorebirds starter RHP Kenny Moreland (0-1, 4.26 ERA), but that would soon change. DH Cristian Santana led the inning off with a double to center and, one out later, 1B Ed Koncel did the same to score Santana from second. Delmarva (20-26) then called upon reliever RHP James Brandhorst to try to get out of the inning. C Zach Zaneski welcomed Brandhorst to the game with an RBI single to score Koncel from second, and Zaneski advanced to second on the throw to the plate. 2B Edwin Garcia followed with a single of his own to plate Zaneski from second for the 4-2 lead.

The 'Dads originally got on the board first when SS Leury Garcia singled to left and advanced to second on an errant throw by LF Kieron Pope. Garcia stole third and came in on a double to the gap by CF Miguel Velazquez.

The Shorebirds tied the game at one in the second. Crawdads starter RHP Neil Ramirez picked up two quick outs to start the inning, only to walk the next two batters. C Michael Ohlman then smacked a single to right to score CF Steve Bumbry from second.

Delmarva took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a single past a drawn in Leury Garcia, scoring CF Steve Bumbry from third for an unearned run. RHP Hector Nelo (1-2, 5.66) came in and got the last out of the inning, to pick up 1.1 scoreless innings and the win. RHP Trevor Hurley recorded his third save with a scoreless ninth. Moreland took the loss for the Shorebirds.
