Craport Clutch in Win over Schaumburg to Clinch Series
August 5, 2021 - Frontier League (FL)
Florence Y'alls News Release
FLORENCE, Ky. - Twelve days after his last home run, a walk-off bomb against the Joliet Slammers on July 24, Trevor Craport hit an eighth inning grand slam into the night sky to put the Florence Y'alls on top of the Schaumburg Boomers 8-4.
After walking Harrison DiNicola to load the bases and a Chad Sedio strike out in the eighth, Craport came to the plate looking to do damage with two outs. The grand slam gave him five RBIs on the night and 61 on the season. Thurday night was Florence's 62nd game of the year.
Florence starting pitcher Frank Valentino got off to a rough start in the first two innings, giving up four combined runs. Valentino would then go the rest of his night scoreless, finishing the day with a no decision.
In relief, Andrew McDonald tossed two innings in relief, striking out five batters without allowing a base runner to earn his first win of the season.
Offensively, Joe Lytle added two RBIs in a 2-for-5 effort. DiNicola reached base three times and scored three runs in the victory.
