Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- Temperatures plummeted below 50 degrees over the weekend as the Bullfrogs split their first road-stand with the Lakeshore Chinooks. The Bullfrogs bring it back to Joannes Stadium this evening for a 6:35PM first pitch against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
Both teams are in need of a win. The Big Top Baseball duo sits tied in the South Division standings at 2-3 overall and three games behind the undefeated Madison Mallards. The Rafters hosted Madison in their last pair, and dropped both games, outscored by a combined 10 runs.
After striking 12 runs in Saturday night's win, Green Bay was stymied by RHP Lake Bachar (Wisconsin-Whitewater) in a 1-3 loss Sunday in Mequon, WI. On the bright side, the Bullfrogs starting rotation continued to impress. For the fourth time in five tries, Green Bay had their starting slab-man go five innings or more. Parker Hamilton (Florida Gulf Coast) tossed five frames and allowed just one earned run with a pair of strikeouts and six groundouts.
Tonight, a new Bullfrog, Luke Crabb (Dodge City C.C.), takes his side-swooping delivery against a Rafters lineup that is hitting .276 with 10 stolen bases. Crabb was a teammate of the Bullfrogs' very own Sam Brunner (Dayton) in 2014 with the Conquistadors.
From Independence, MO, Crabb started 14 games for Dodge City C.C. in the spring and in 87 2/3 IP had 10 starts in which he lasted six innings or more. With a 3.29 ERA, Crabb gathered 100 strikeouts. Good for an average of 10.27 K's per game, his triple digit K's were eighth in all of NJCAA.
Crabb duels Zach Kolodziejski (Niagara) who was roughed up for three runs in just 2/3 IP in a May 28th outing at La Crosse. Kolodzieski completed his freshman season for the Purple Eagles a leader on the team in wins (7), innings (77.0), and strikeouts (49).
The Bullfrogs play at Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday night, the beginning of a three-game road set that finishes with two at Madison's Duck Pond.
Tonight is Princess Night at Joannes Stadium. Kids ages 12 and under receive free admission for wearing a costume to the game. Gates open at 5:35PM.
Group tickets, season tickets and 7-game packages are on sale now. The Bullfrogs off-season hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. For more information please visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
