Edinburg Roadrunners News Release
Edinburg, TX; July 22, 2007-The Edinburg Coyotes have been struggling since the beginning of the second half of the season as they once again were swept by the Alexandria Aces with the final game ending in the 8-3 Aces win Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Pitching wasn't the only problem for the Coyotes for their offense collected as many hits as the Aces and the defense as many errors, yet could not capitalize on the bases. At the same time Alexandria's dominate pitching has limited Edinburg to 21 scoreless innings which the Coyotes broke tonight finally notching three runs in the fourth.
The Aces started things in the first when Selwyn Langaigne doubled scoring Bryan Sabatella. It was the third inning that killed the Coyotes with Alexandria picking up five off of the not so agile Coyote defense and starter Bryan Heaston.
Edinburg ended their scoreless streak of 21 innings adding three runs in the fourth with things getting started on a Nelson Teilon double, fouled by Alexis Hernandez reaching on an error by Aces third baseman Wilson Burwell advancing Teilon. Rodney Medina then singled scoring Teilon bringing up Luis Espinoza who doubled scoring Hernandez, and finishing out the inning with Adam Bonner with a sacrifice fly scoring Medina.
Alexandria picked up two more runs in the contest, one in the sixth and one in the eighth giving them the win, and the series sweep.
Next up the Coyotes will battle the San Angelo Colts in a four game series starting Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Game time set for 7:05 p.m. Starting pitchers for the contest are Eric Montoya for Edinburg and TBA for San Angelo.
The Edinburg Coyotes are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League in its second season with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 100-game schedule between May and August 2007.
