Aces sweep Coyotes

Harlingen, TX Sunday July 22, 2007- The Alexandria Aces swept the three game series with the Edinburg Coyotes by defeating them by the score of 8-3. The Aces won 5 of the 6 games on the roa trip winning two of three from Rio and now sweeping the Coyotes. With the win the Aces improve to a league best 42-26 overall and 15-4 in the second half in United League action.

Adam Frey worked 6.0 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits, while walking three and striking out four. Frey (5-3) located his sinker and worked in his slider to keep the Coyote hitters off balance throughout the night. Charlie Foster worked 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, allowing only an infield single to Rodney Medina, while walking noone and striking out three. Luis Galarraga worked a perfect ninth to preserve the sweep.

Evey Ace contributed somehow offensively tonight. Bryan Sabatella was 1-for-4 with two runs socred and two stolen bases, Richard Paz was 1-for-2 with a run batted in, Selwyn Langaigne was 1-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored. Josh Tranum added a hit in his first game of the road trip, going 1-for-5 with a run scored and a run batted in. Palmer Karr added a rbi single and a run scores as well. Luis Guance was 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Evan Cherry went 0-for3, but had a run batted in on a bases loaded walk.Wilson Burwell and Kevin MacIlvane both were 0-for2 with a run scored and a run batted in to lead the Aces to a three game sweep of the Coyotes.

Bryan Heaston (2-4) took the loss working 5.1 innings, allowing seven runs (only one earned), while walking six and striking out four. Angel Rocha came in to work 1.2 inngs, allowing one run on no hits, while walking four and striking out two. Adam Clay and Julio Castro worked scoreless eighth and ninth innings in relief for Edinburg.

Rodney Medina wwas 3-for-4 with a run batted in and arun scored to lead Edinburg, who only managed 16 hits in the three game series.
