Coyotes, Shock Game Preview

(Fresno, CA) - In a another first in a season full of them the Central Valley Coyotes(4-2) meet the Spokane Shock(5-1) on Saturday May 20th at Selland Arena. This meeting will be important for both teams as a win against a division rival can make the difference come playoff.

The Coyotes are looking to get a home win having only won one of three at home this season. Losing to the Bakersfield Blitz in week three 28-38 and to the Quad City Steamwheelers 53-59 in week 6, these losses after winning in week one against the Rio Grande Dorados 65-34. The Coyotes are perfect on the road so far this season including two wins against division rivals Stockton Lightning 63-61 last week and the Everett Hawks 60-41 in week 5.

The Shock's only lost thus far this season came against the Blitz two weeks ago, they lost 20-52. The Shock and Blitz are currently tied for first place with the Coyotes only one game behind. A win against the Coyotes this week could propel the Shock towards a division title and the playoffs, a Coyotes win could help them in their quest for there first ever playoff appearance. A loss for the Shock and a loss by the Blitz in their game Saturday against the Lightning would place all three teams in a tie for first place. The Coyotes would turn around and play the Blitz next Saturday May 27th and are also scheduled to meet the Shock again on June 3rd in Spokane.

The Coyotes will be looking for another stand out performance from their third ranked offense and their leader quarterback Scott Rislov as they go up against the Shocks 2nd rank defense. Rislov, who is ranked number one in pass efficiency, 3rd in passing touchdowns, and 7th in pass completions will be looking to continue his passing dominance. He has thrown for 7 touchdowns in five of the six games this season for a total of 38, and has thrown only 3 interceptions on 192 passing attempts.

If the Coyote defense put pressure on the Shocks quarterback as they did last week against the Lightning quarterback Josh Blankenship, it will go along way in controlling the Shocks 15th ranked offense that is lead by QB Alex Neist. The Coyotes 7th ranks defense has recorded 15 sacks this season ranking them 3rd in the league.

Prior to the game the Coyotes dance team "The Valley Girls" will be holding their annual dance clinic for kids aged 6-16 the participants will than perform at halftime. Space is still open; anyone still interested can sign up the day of the event. Registration starts at 1 P.M. at Selland Arena.
