CHICAGO - The arenafootball2 league (af2) announced today that four former players have been named to the Arena Football League's 2006 All-Ironman Team, which annually recognizes the best two-way players in the league. Philadelphia WR/DB Mike Brown, Nashville FB/LB Frank Carter, Grand Rapids WR/DB Timon Marshall and Dallas WR/DB Will Pettis were honored for their outstanding all-around play.
Brown, who played for the af2's Charleston Swamp Foxes for three seasons (2001-03), is a three-year veteran of the AFL. He spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons with the Orlando Predators before being signed by the Soul. Carter, a two-year star with the af2's Quad City Steamwheelers in 2000 and 2001, is a four-year AFL veteran. He spent his first three seasons with the Las Vegas Gladiators before signing with Nashville prior to the 2006 season. This year, Carter compiled 66 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on offense. Defensively, the MacMurray College alum accumulated 31.0 total tackles, 4.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss. He also had two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. Marshall had a breakout season for the Rampage in 2006. The former two-year af2 veteran (Oklahoma City 2004, Tulsa 2003) led the AFL with 2,734 all-purpose yards and became the first two-way player in league history to record at least 1,300 receiving yards with 1,300 kickoff return yards in the same season.
