Coyotes fall short in Game 2

AMARILLO, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes came up short in Saturday's game against the Amarillo Dillas as they lose 8-7 in Game 2 of a three-game series at the Dilla Rilla. The Coyotes now fall to second place (6-5) behind the Dillas (7-4) in the United League standings.

The Coyotes' bats came alive early when Logan Wood hit a two run homer to straight away center field to give the Coyotes a two run lead. Then Jason Arrowood walked and later came around to score on Jermaine Williams RBI single to right center pushing the lead to 3-0. After the Coyotes pushed the lead to 4-0 in the second inning, the Dillas answered with two runs in the second inning. In the third inning with the score 4-2, the Dillas put five runs across with six hits to take a 7-4 lead. The Coyotes tried to claw their way back in the sixth and seventh innings where they scored three runs in each of those frames. The Coyotes had chances to tie the game but stranded three runners in the seventh.

Geivy Garcia got his second loss of the season after pitching seven innings and allowing eight runs on 11 hits, The winning pitcher was Marcos Castillo (1-0) who went six and a third and gave up six runs on 12 hits. David Koons got his first save of the season after he pitched a perfect ninth. The Coyotes and the Dillas will face off in the final game of the three-game series tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. The Coyotes head home after the series finale and will host the Harlingen WhiteWings on Tuesday.
