Colts Release OF McLain, Activate RHP Greanead
May 24, 2008 - United League Baseball (ULB) News Release
SAN ANGELO, Texas - The San Angelo Colts announced today that they have released outfielder Sam McLain and activated right-handed pitcher Matt Greanead from the Inactive List.
The Colts started the season with only 10 pitchers and 14 position players, but now have an 11-man pitching staff and continue to have a roster of 24 players, the United League limit.
The Colts acquired McLain in a trade with the Harlingen White Wings for future considerations the day before the 2008 season began. The Inverness, Florida native hit .227 (5-for-22) in six games with one double, no home runs, and four RBIs. McClain, a left-handed batter and thrower, played the last two seasons in Harlingen, batting a combined .266 with seven home runs, 34 doubles, six triples, and 62 RBIs.
In 2007, Greanead completed his first professional season with the Colts after beginning the year with the Texas Heat of the Continental League, where he was 0-1 in 10 appearances. In his limited time in San Angelo, he was a boost out of the bullpen, allowing just one earned run in five appearances. Greanead began this season on the Inactive List but is now set to begin his second pro season.
The Colts continue this six-game homestand at Foster Field with game two of this three-game series against the Alexandria Aces at 7:05 p.m. CT tonight, May 24. For tonight's game, Arroyo Square Apartments sponsors a baseball keychain giveaway for the first 1,000 fans through the gate.
Advertising, ticket, and group information are available by calling the box office at (325) 942-6587. All Colts games are broadcast live on "Cool 100" - KCLL 100.1 FM and online at the Colts' official website, www.sanangelocolts.com, which is updated daily with the latest team news.
