
Coyotes Crumble in Ninth

EDINBURG, Texas- The Edinburg Coyotes (14-25) were unable to hold off another late rally from the Alexandria Aces (21-17) as they fall 6-5 Sunday night in front of 5,512 fans, the largest crowd of the 2008 season at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Coyotes' closer Julio Castro gave up three runs in the ninth inning that allowed Alexandria to tie the game up at 5. The game went into 10th inning and the Toro Trevino (0-3) picked up the loss after he allowed an RBI single from Aces' right fielder Madison Edwards. Aces' closer Wayne Hedden(2-3) picked up his second win of the season. In the second inning, Coyotes' right fielder singled to left. He then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Logan Wood walked and Alex Entrikin hit a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher that over threw the third baseman while trying to throw out German who scored off the error. Eric Gonzalez then hit an RBI single that brought in Wood and advanced Entrikin to third making the score 2-0. The next batter, Gary Roche, hit an RBI single to left field that scored Entrikin from third to give them a 3-0 advantage. Coyotes struck again in the third after German hit an RBI single bringing in MayoBanex Santana from first and Entrikin double to center field bringing in German for a 5-0 lead. In the top of fifth, Aces managed to put up a run off an RBI double from Albert Gonzalez bringing in Jose Umbria from second to put the score at 5-1. Aces scored another run in the eighth but broke the game open after scoring three runs off of Castro in the ninth to tie the game at 5. Aces won the game in the 10th after Madison Edwards hit an RBI single to bring in Patrick O' Sullivan from third and the Aces won 6-5. Coyotes take on the Laredo Broncos for the first time at home. First pitch is set for 7:05 tomorrow night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
