
Coyotes blast Broncos

EDINBURG, Texas- The Edinburg Coyotes (15-25) ended a four-game losing streak as their bats came alive in a 12-8 win over the Laredo Broncos (20-20) Monday night. The Coyotes dished out a potent offensive assault as they were able to score in every inning through six innings and ended the game with 11 hits and 10 earned runs. Coyotes starting pitcher John Maschino(1-3) picked up his first win of the season as he went six solid innings giving up three runs on three hits. Broncos ace Santos Hernandez (4-3) picked up the loss after giving up seven runs through five innings of play. Coyotes' short stop Angelo Fermin led the Coyotes offensive attack as he went 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs. With the game tied at 2, Coyotes' catcher Eddie Wilson scored on an error by the Bronco catcher Luany Sanchez to give them a 3-2 lead in the second inning. The Broncos tied the game in the third when Anthony Bennett scored from third on an RBI ground out from Luany Sanchez to put the score at 3-3. Coyotes fired back in the bottom of the frame as Coyotes' first baseman Robert Matlock singled to center and advanced to third on back-to-back walks from Daryl Jones and MayoBanex Santana. Matlock scored on a fielder's choice by Amado German. Jones then scored on a fielder's choice from Logan Wood to give the Coyotes a 5-3 edge. Coyotes scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings but their lead ballooned to nine after scoring five runs on three hits in the sixth inning to give them a 12-3 lead. Broncos managed to score a run in the seventh but rallied in the ninth inning scoring four runs off of three hits but newly acquired pitcher James Mondesir closed the game out to seal a 12-8 victory for the Coyotes. The Coyotes and Broncos play again in Game 2 tommorow night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05. It's Palenque Grill "Buyout night" tomorrow which means free admission for everyone.
