
Coyotes acquire Pelletier for DesRochers

Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons announced today that the Phoenix Coyotes have acquired goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier and a future conditional draft pick from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for goaltender Patrick DesRochers. Pelletier will not report to the Falcons until Sunday. DesRochers will join the Lowell LockMonsters for their game in Manchester tonight.
Pelletier has played in 17 games with the Lowell LockMonsters this season posting a record of 6-10-0 with a 3.55 goals against average and .898 save percentage, including one shutout.
Pelletier is in his 5th season of pro hockey. He spent the 2001-02 season with Lowell collecting a record of 21-12-4 with a 2.57 goals against average and .921 save percentage in 40 games played. He led the LockMonsters in wins and shutouts (2) last season. Pelletier started his pro career with the Philadelphia Flyers organization spending most of his rookie season (1998-99) with the Philadelphia Phantoms. Pelletier collected a record of 25-16-4 with a 2.78 goals against average and .909 save percentage during the 1998-99 campaign while with the Philadelphia Phantoms. He was the Philadelphia Flyers' 1st choice (30th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. Pelletier was traded to Carolina by Philadelphia along with Rob Brind'Amour and Philadelphia's 2nd choice in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Keith Primeau and Carolina's 5th round choice in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft on January 23, 2000.
DesRochers leaves the Falcons as their all-time games played leader by a goaltender with 144 games played. He posted a Falcons career record of 52-63-14 with a 3.25 goals against average in that span. DesRochers has split this season between the Falcons and Phoenix Coyotes. In eight games with Springfield this season, DesRochers has a record of 2-4-1 with a 2.64 goals against average and .917 save percentage. DesRochers also played in four games with Phoenix this season posting a record of 0-3-0 with a 3.77 goals against average. DesRochers was the Phoenix Coyotes' 1st choice (14th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He played in nine career NHL games with Phoenix posting a record of 1-5-1 with a 3.73 goals against average.
The Falcons will continue a seven-game road trip this weekend when they head to St. John's, Newfoundland for two games against the Maple Leafs and Friday and Saturday night. Game time for both games is 6:05 PM EST.
