Published on December 31, 2002 under American Hockey League (AHL) News Release

In one of two New Year's Eve trades that affected American Hockey League teams, the Phoenix Coyotes have acquired three-time AHL All-Star goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier.

Pelletier, along with a conditional draft pick, goes to Phoenix from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for former first-rounder Patrick DesRochers.

The MVP of the 1999 AHL All-Star Game, Pelletier had a record of 6-10-0 in 17 games with Lowell this season, and has a total of 66 AHL victories since turning pro out of Cornell University in 1998-99. Pelletier, 24, was a second-round draft pick by Philadelphia in 1997.

DesRochers, 23, had a record of 52-63-14 over the past four seasons with the Springfield Falcons. The 14th overall pick in the '98 draft has appeared in nine career NHL games with the Coyotes, including four this season.

Toronto and Nashville also announced a trade on Tuesday, with another three-time AHL All-Star, St. John's forward Bob Wren, being swapped for Milwaukee forward Nathan Perrott.

Wren, a six-time 20-goal scorer in the AHL, had eight goals and 11 assists in 27 contests with St. John's this season. He skated in the AHL All-Star Game in 1998, 1999 and 2000, and has amassed 184 goals and 303 assists for 487 points in 506 career AHL contests since 1994-95.

Perrott, a second-round draft pick by New Jersey in 1995, had one goal and two assists in 27 games with Milwaukee in 2002-03. He has skated in 162 career AHL matches with Milwaukee, Norfolk and Albany, compiling 18 goals, 29 assists and 581 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 23 NHL games with Nashville over the past two seasons.
