Coyle, Leonard Blast Hot Rods to Sweep

Bowling Green, KY - Tommy Coyle and Patrick Leonard both struck three-run home runs to lead the Bowling Green Hot Rods (3-0, 41-30) to a 9-1 win over the Lansing Lugnuts (0-3, 32-40) Saturday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. The victory is the sixth in-a-row for the Hot Rods, clinches the three-game series sweep, and improves Bowling Green to 6-0 at home against Lansing in 2013. Dylan Floro shut down the Lugnuts bats in his six frames, allowing three hits and no runs.
With Floro halfway through his six shutout innings, the Hot Rods started their scoring in the bottom of the third. Joey Rickard started the scoring with a single down the right field line that scored Leonard from second base. The very next batter was Coyle, who promptly sent a Roberto Osuna offering over the wall in right field for his fifth home run of the season. The three-run shot made it 4-0 Hot Rods.
After two Osuna walks to begin the bottom of the fourth, Leonard's three-run homer against new Lansing pitcher Kramer Champlin placed the Hot Rods ahead 7-0. The Florida native's fourth home run as a Hot Rod continued a stretch of 17 unanswered runs scored by the Hot Rods against the Lugnuts in the series.
After two Hot Rods tallies in the fifth and sixth innings, Lansing finally chipped in with a run, which was the first earned run of the series and the first earned run allowed by Hot Rods. Leonard finished the night with two hits, including the three-run homer.
With the Lansing sweep behind them, the Hot Rods turn their attention to the Lake County Captains (Indians) who come to South Central Kentucky for a three-game series that starts Sunday evening at 5:05 PM. The game one pitching matchup is as follows: RHP Reinaldo Lopez (2-3, 3.33) for Bowling Green and RHP Jake Sisco (3-5, 3.25) for Lake County.
