ABOUT TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:
Season Series: Nailers lead 7-3
For the first time in quite some time the Nailers will have a full complement of players on their roster. The team received a boost of skill and size up front earlier this week. The Nailers acquired forwards Tim Crowder and Paul Crowder from the Utah Grizzlies. The two brothers wasted little time reaching the scoresheet in their Nailers debut Wednesday against Elmira, as Paul Crowder scored his first goal as Nailer. Forwards Ryan Schnell and Joey Haddad also were reassigned to Wheeling from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Goaltender Peter Delmas was also returend from the Hamilton Bulldogs.
The Cyclones are coming off a 3-2 home victory over the Reading Royals Wednesday night. The win pulled Cincinnati within two points of the Nailers for second place in the North Division. Forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel will return to Wheeling to face his former club tonight for the first time since being reassigned to Cincinnati in early February.
"Special" Teams: Wheeling's special teams units are some of the best in the league. Wheeling's Power play is ranked third in the ECHL, converting at 20.1%. The Nailers penalty kill continues to be stingy, ranked second overall killing off 84.7% of the penalties faced.
