Campbell Leads Stingrays Past Everblades

Estero, FL -Trent Campbell recorded a goal and an assist as the South Carolina Stingrays (33-22-2-2) defeated the Florida Everblades (30-26-1-3) 3-1 Friday night at Germain Arena.

Stingrays forward Rob Ricci grabbed the game's opening tally with 29 seconds to play in the first period firing a wrist shot under the right pad Everblades goaltender Bobby Goepfert from the bottom of the right-wing circle. Forward Luke Popko earned the lone assist.

Froward Pierre-Luc O'Brien made it 2-0 Stingrays 52 seconds into the third period from Campbell. The Everblades pulled within one late in the frame when defenseman Elgin Reid buried a shot past Stingrays netminder Shane Owen from between the circles at 19:09. Forwards Alexandre Imbeault and Matt Beca registered assists. Campbell sealed the victory for the Stingrays with an empty-net goal from defenseman Nate Kiser at 19:44.

Owen improved to 3-0-0 against the Everblades stopping 27 of 28 shots. Goepfert suffered the loss kicking away 28 of 30 Stingrays opportunities. The Rays ended the night 0-for-2 on the power play while the Everblades went 0-for-1.
