ECHL Kalamazoo Wings

Countdown To Face-Off

November 7, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

For the first-time this season, the Kalamazoo Wings will head down south to battle the Gwinnett Gladiators. Tonight is the first of five meetings between the teams this season; however, this evening's encounter is the lone appearance for Kalamazoo at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Dropping a 5-4 decision in overtime to Toledo last Wednesday, Kalamazoo is now unbeaten in regulation on the road in their last five games (4-0-1-0). The loss also makes the K-Wings winless in their last two contests and with 13 points. Kalamazoo leads the North Division by two points over Toledo.

Breaking up a three-way tie for first place last night with a win versus the Florida Everblades, the Gladiators now find themselves tied for first place in the South Division with the South Carolina Stingrays. Tonight is the second of four straight home games for Gwinnett, who is 2-1-0-1 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Total Recall

The K-Wings roster has had to handle some changes for the past week. Since Sunday, the K-Wings have sent five players to the American Hockey League.

Strong Debut Forward Sal Peralta made his presence felt in his first game last Wednesday. In his first shift of the game, Peralta recorded a goal on his very first shot as a K-Wing.

Nearing the Century Mark

Kalamazoo's Darryl Lloyd reached a personal milestone last Wednesday. Earning an assist on the K-Wings first goal, Lloyd earned his 100th career pro assist.

On a Roll

K-Wings' forward Trent Daavettila and captain Sam Ftorek enter today on a four-game point streak. Daavettila is also on a K-Wings' season-high four-game goal streak, while Ftorek has rung up eight points (1 goal, 6 assists) during the stretch.
