For the second time this week, the Kalamazoo Wings will square off against the Port Huron Icehawks. On the season, the K-Wings are 5-6-0-0 versus the Icehawks and are 2-3-0-0 against Port Huron at McMorran Place Arena. The Icehawks have a two-game winning streak versus the K-Wings.
With a record of 3-6-0-1 in their last 10 games, the K-Wings have fallen 12 points behind the Icehawks, who are in sole possession of first. Today will commence a two-game road swing for the K-Wings, who are 14-15-0-0 away from Wings Stadium.
Returning home for their next five games, Port Huron defeated Muskegon last night 4-1 to push their lead over the second place Lumberjacks to three points. The most dominate first period team in the IHL, the Icehawks have been more like vultures outscoring their opponents 83-36 in the opening stanza.

Defenseman Rod Aldoff is closing in on several personal milestones. Aldoff is one goal shy of 100, one assist shy of 300 and two points shy of 400 in his career.
Firing Blanks
On the season the K-Wings have been shutout seven times and on three of those occasions Kalamazoo's opponent has been Port Huron. The K-Wings are 5-3-0-0 this season when they scored at least one goal against the Icehawks.
Finishing Strong
So far this season, the K-Wings have saved their best hockey for the third period. Kalamazoo has outscored their opponents 68-50 (+18) in the final 20 minutes, making their period their most productive.
