IHL 2 Kalamazoo Wings

Countdown to Face-Off

March 31, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

The battle for first place in the UHL continues tonight, as the Kalamazoo Wings travel to Muskegon to face-off against the two-time defending Colonial Cup Champions, the Muskegon Fury. Tonight is the final meeting of the regular season between the two intra-state rivals. The K-Wings lead the season series over the Fury with a record of 6-3-1.

After losing in a shootout Wednesday night to the Flint Generals, Kalamazoo enters tonight's game looking to get back to their winning ways. The K-Wings, who are currently in second place in the Central Division, trail the Fury by four points for both the division and overall lead in the United Hockey League. Tonight will also start a three-game Michigan road swing for the K-Wings.

Muskegon comes into the weekend looking to create some breathing room for Tarry Cup, the trophy given to the UHL team that finishes the regular season with best overall record. After tonight, the Fury will play the third overall team in the league, the Rockford IceHogs and finish the weekend against a possible first round opponent, the Quad City Mallards.
