Adirondack Frostbite News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY -- Mark Hurtubise and Sylvain Cloutier both tallied three points, and Kris Tebbs made 31 saves, to lead the Adirondack Frostbite past the Roanoke Valley Vipers 5-3 on Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Adirondack improves to 40-20-5 overall on the season, and 11-0-0 against Roanoke.
The Vipers got off to a quick start, scoring just 1:22 into the first period. Matt Elich completed a 3-on-1 rush blasting a shot past Tebbs for his 32nd goal of the season.
Hurtubise pulled the Frostbite even at 4:56, taking a centering feed from David Moccia and one-timing a shot past Shawn Conschafter. The assist extended Moccia's scoring streak to five games.
Cloutier put the Frostbite ahead exactly four minutes later with a power-play goal, his 24th goal of the season.
Roanoke went ahead, scoring a pair of goals in the final 2:13 of the first period. Jonathan Charette tied the game at 17:47, redirecting a shot past Tebbs, and then Mike Wiggins gave the Vipers a 3-2 lead with just one second left in the period, jamming a shot past Tebbs on a power play.
Greg Koehler tied the game for the Frostbite 11:08 into the second period. Off of a face-off win in the right-wing circle of the Roanoke zone, Koehler gathered in the puck, danced around two separate Vipers players, and snuck a shot past Conschafter on the near post for his 14th of the season.
Hurtubise put the Frostbite ahead for good with his second of the night with 46 seconds left in the second. Cloutier took a shot from the far wall that Hurtubise tipped past Conschafter from the top of the crease.
Roanoke had good opportunities in the third period with three power-play opportunities, and a 14-4 edge in shots on goal, but Tebbs made several big saves down the stretch to preserve the lead, and then Hugo Belanger set the final, scoring into an empty net with two seconds left.
Adirondack concludes its three-game home stand on Saturday, hosting Danbury at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are available at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office, or by calling (518) 798-0202.
