Game Preview

It will be the best in the Central versus the best in the East, when the Kalamazoo Wings head into the Danbury Ice Arena to battle the Danbury Trashers. Besides leading the Central Division, with 48 points, the K-Wings are also the top team in the United Hockey League.

Kalamazoo has been rolling of late, winning six of their last seven games. A big reason for their success has been Tyler Rennette and Joel Martin. Rennette has recorded a point in each of his last six games; while Martin is coming off a week where he earned the UHL's Goaltender of the Week.

Danbury last tested a regulation defeat on November 30th and that was against Kalamazoo. Since that time, the Trashers have gone unbeaten in regulation in their last 15 games (11-0-4). Trasher forward David Hymovitz also received a league honor this week, as the UHL named him their Player of the Week.

That's What Willis is Taking About

K-Wings forward Tyler Willis has been on a goal scoring tear. Willis, who needs three more goals to reach 100 for his career, has scored three goals in his last three games.

Deschamps Leaves Team

Defenseman Darren Deschamps has left the K-Wings to pursue interest outside of hockey. As a result, the K-Wings have placed Deschamps on a non-roster spot.

Racking Up the Points

Forward Tyler Rennette is currently on the six-game point streak. The six-game streak is the longest current streak by a K-Wings player and is just two games shy of the K-Wings season long of eight games, also held by Rennette.

Beast of the East

The K-Wings have faired well against teams from the Eastern Division. On the season, the K-Wings are 6-1-0 against teams from the east. Kalamazoo's lone loss was to Danbury back on December 3rd.
