Countdown to Face-Off
November 5, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Two of the top teams in the United Hockey League will face-off tonight, as the K-Wings travel to Muskegon to battle the Fury. While Kalamazoo trails the all-time series with a record of 15-35-6, the K-Wings may have some momentum in the series. Kalamazoo has won the last two meetings between the teams, including a 3-2 victory in their last appearance at the L.C. Walker Arena (3/18/05).
The K-Wings come into the game tied with the Fury for second place in the UHL. Kalamazoo has a high potent offense that has generated 26 goals in just four games this season. The K-Wings top goal scorer is Nick Bootland, who has lit the lamp five times this year. This a big night for Bootland, as tonight will be the veterans 500th career game.
The Fury come into tonight's game, as just one of two undefeated teams in the UHL. Like the Kalamazoo, Muskegon hasn't had problems scoring goals. In fact, the two-time defending Colonial Cup Champions are averaging a league best 6.00 goals a game. Muskegon's top producers are David Wrigley and Todd Robinson. Wrigley leads his team in goals scored with six, while Robinson leads the Fury with 12 points.
