
Frostbite Give Jackals Cold Shoulder

Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Frostbite scored 4-consecutive goals on their way to a 5-2 win over the Elmira Jackals Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
The Jackals took the lead at 10:02 of the opening period, when Sam Paolini smacked home a pass from Carl Drakensjo and Eddy Lowe from a 1-0 Elmira score. Then Adirondack took over. Hugo Belanger scored twice in the first period, First he tied the scored at 13:02 from Bob Rapoza and Mike Berry, then he gave the Frostbite the lead with 24 seconds remaining in the first period.
In the second period, the Frostbite picked up where they left off. Rookie Kevin Watters made it 3-1 at 3:52 and then Lyon Porter scored Adirondack's fourth straight goal at 5:37 to make it 4-1. Jackals head coach Perry Florio called his team's timeout after the 4th Frostbite goal and it seemed to calm his troops down. The Jackals stopped the bleeding and brought the deficit back within two goals five minutes later. Kevin Cooper scored a power play goal at 10:20, assisted by Trevor Burgess and Craig MacDonald, but Elmira would not find the net again.
Hugo Belanger would complete his hat trick at 6:38 of the third period, capping off the victory for the Frostbite. A minute and a half into the third, Jackals defenseman John Jarram was given a game misconduct after he jumped in to protect his goaltender, but was deemed by the referee to have left the bench, even though it appeared that Jarram had made a legal line-change before the whistle had blown and the incident occurred.
Adirondack goalie Kris Tebbs earned his 4th win of the season while stopping 27-of-29 shots; Elmira's Nick Boucher made 36 saves on 41 shots while taking the loss for the Jackals. Jackals forward Vince Malts left the game after sustaining a cut during a fight with Adirondack's Lyon Porter, he did not return.
Elmira will return home to take on the Quad City Mallards for two games at the First Arena. Saturday is scheduled for a 7:05 pm face-off, while Sunday's festivities will get underway at 4:05 pm in Elmira.
