IHL 2 Kalamazoo Wings

Countdown to Face-Off

October 16, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

It's a battle of undefeated teams tonight, as the K-Wings travel to Rockford to battle the IceHogs. Kalamazoo used a two goal performance from Zarley Zalapski to defeat the Motor City Mechanics by the score of 4-1, while Rockford scored seven goals in the first 30 minutes of play en route to a 8-4 victory over the Quad City Mallards.

Dating back to last season, the K-Wings have won their last five regular season contests, which include two victories over the IceHogs. For the second straight game, the K-Wings suffocating defense will be put to the test against an explosive Rockford offense, which put up eight goals last night against Quad City. After tonight, the K-Wings will conclude the road swing next Friday in Flint.

Rockford Head Coach Steve Martinson hopes his IceHogs can continue their home cooking tonight against Kalamazoo. Martinson, who is in his first season as the IceHogs Head Coach, has revamped Rockford's lineup. In fact, Rockford has only one player (Nathan Lutz) returning for the 04-05 season.
