LAST ACTION: The Beacons edged the ‘Dogs 3-2 in a shootout in the season opener for both clubs at the Coliseum last night. The ‘Dogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second period on a goal by David Brosseau. Port Huron scored on back to back power plays to take a 2-1 advantage. The ‘Dogs tied the game on a goal by J.J. Wrobel later in the second period. In the shootout Josh Tataryn and Ian Jacobs scored for Port Huron while Stu Dunn stopped all four ‘Dogs. Richmond out-shot Port Huron 35-28. The Beacons were 2-7 on the power play while the ‘Dogs went 1-4.

'DOG BITES: The ‘Dogs were 29-5-3 when scoring first last season. Richmond opens with three straight home games. The ‘Dogs then play six of the next seven on the road. Following tonight the ‘Dogs next eight games will be against Eastern Division opponents. The ‘Dogs roster stands at 19; Sean Keane was a scratch last night.

BEACONS NOTES: Both Port Huron goals came on the power play. The Beacons were last in the UHL in power play percentage last season. Both Port Huron regulation goals were scored by defensemen.
