Countdown to Face-Off
December 12, 2003 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The K-Wings and the Mallards will meet for the second time this season as Kalamazoo hosts Quad City tonight at Wings Stadium. The last time these teams played, Kalamazoo defeated Quad City 4-1, November 29th 2003, at The MARK of the Quad Cities in Moline, Illinois.
Kalamazoo will attempt to end a three game winless streak and in the process avoid dipping below the 500 mark for the first time this season. Tonight is a great opportunity for Kalamazoo to make up some ground in the Western Conference, as the K-Wings enter the game tied with Rockford for fourth place in the west and trail both Quad City and Fort Wayne by just four points for second place in the division. The K-Wings will get a boost in the lineup as goaltender Chad Alban returns to the active roster. The Kalamazoo native has missed the past three games due to an illness.
Quad City will be looking to rebound after suffering a 6-5 shootout loss to Rockford on Wednesday. The Mallards should be well rested, as tonight's game is just their third game in the last twelve days. Quad City are led by Jason Sessa and Jeff Reynaert. The six-year pro has tallied 17 points (11 goals, 6 assists) in just 16 games with the Mallards. Former K-Wing netminder, Jeff Reynaert is 7-4-2 in 13 appearances this season with a 2.93 goals against average and a save percentage .915.
