
Beacons Come Through On Guaranteed Win

Port Huron, MI â The Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League (UHL) announce the final game statistics for the game vs. the Muskegon Fury on Friday, December 12th.
The Beacons came through Friday on the Guaranteed Win Night against the first place Muskegon Fury. Michel Beausoleil started the scoring for the Beacons at 2:09 of the first period, his first of the night and his eighth goal of the season. Muskegon responded with a short-handed goal at 13:32 by Dave Noel-Bernier, his seventh goal of the season. Port Huron has struggled this season on the power play. They are ranked ninth in the league. The Fury jumped ahead with the lead only 1:21 later with an even strength goal at 14:53 by the Muskegon's leading goal scorer Brant Blackned, his 13th goal of the season. But late in the period it was Josh Tataryn tying the game with his first goal as a Beacon at 18:44 of the first period. Port Huron out shot the Fury only 14 to 13 during the opening period.
Second period was dominated by the Beacons in the scoring column, but only out shot the Fury again by just one shot (14 to 13). Michel Beausoleil started the period scoring again with his ninth of the season at 1:31 and followed it up with his 10th and third of the night for the hat trick at 2:55 of the second period. That goal marks Beausoleil's first hat trick of the season and of his professional career. Mike Corneau continued the Beacons streak with an even strength goal at 7:09 of the period, his second of the season. Muskegon Head Coach Todd Nelson pulled goaltender Ryan Aschaber and replaced him with Sylvain Daigle after the Corneau goal. Aschaber faced 19 shots for the evening and allowed five goals during his 27:09 minutes of play. Daigle only let one goal in the remainder of the night and that was a short-handed goal by Jason Firth at 13:51 of the second period. Firth's seventh goal of the season.
Third period Muskegon was determined to continue their five game winning streak with three unanswered goals. Scott Hollis earned his 10th and 11th goal of the season at 10:35 and a short handed at 16:12. With minutes left to play, Port Huron receives two cross checking penalties that give the Fury a two man advantage, which the capitalized on with a power play goal at 19:58 by Garry Toor, his third goal of the season. Stu Dunn was in net for the Beacons and faced 44 shots total. Dunn holds on for the win ending the five game winning streak for Muskegon. The Fury did out shoot the Beacons 18 to 8 in the final period. Tonight's win for the Beacons gave all the fans in attendance the opportunity to come out for the match up against the Mallards tomorrow night at a discounted rate.
