
Cougars Prospect Dennis Cholowski Drafted 20th Overall by the Detroit Red Wings

Prince George, B.C. - With the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft the Detroit Red Wings have selected Prince George Cougars prospect Dennis Cholowski (Langley, BC).
Originally selected by the Cougars in the 10th round (200th overall) in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, Cholowski, a defenceman is fresh off his second season in the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs. In 50 regular season games with Chilliwack in 2015-16, the 6'1", 176 pound d-man scored 12 goals and added 28 assists and 16 penalty minutes. He added four goals and 11 assists in 20 playoff games. He played a big part in helping Canada West to a World Junior A Challenge Gold Medal in December, 2015 and was named a second-team BCHL All-Star in 2016.
"When we drafted Dennis in 2013 we knew we were picking a player who had the potential to become an elite defenceman, and to see him accomplish what he has since then has been very impressive," said Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. "We are thrilled for Dennis and his family and I have no doubt that he's going to be a very positive addition to the Detroit Red Wings organization."
Rounds 2 - 7 of the the 2016 NHL Draft will continue tomorrow from Buffalo, NY starting at 7:00 AM local time.
