PRINCE GEORGE, BC -The Prince George Cougars announced they placed defenceman Shane Collins (Rosetown, SK) on 20-year-old waivers ahead of today's deadline.

Collins, a third-round selection in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft, played parts of five seasons with the Cougars organization, compiling five goals and 39 points in 186 career regular season games. He played in 10 playoff games over the past two seasons, picking up a goal and three points.

"Shane has done everything we could have asked from him and has been an outstanding ambassador for our organization. He grew into a very dependable, stay-at-home defencemen over the past four seasons, that logged a lot of important minutes," said General Manager Todd Harkins.

"He's a dedicated student and athlete, as he's the only two-time winner of our team fitness award. His character and commitment to this team on and off the ice, will be greatly missed."

Collins cleared WHL waivers Tuesday afternoon and now is a free agent.

The Cougars are going with forwards Jared Bethune, Aaron Boyd and Brogan O'Brien as their 20-year-olds. The roster now sits at 25 players: three goalies, seven defencemen and 15 forwards.

Prince George has recalled affiliate defenceman Peter Kope (99) from the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
