Prince George, BC - The Calgary Hitmen opened a three game B.C. Division road trip with a 7-1 loss in Prince George to the Cougars on Tuesday night at CN Centre.

Kody McDonald netted a hat-trick for the Cougars while 16-year-old rookie goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 16 saves for his first career WHL win. Gauthier, from Calgary, was the Cougars first round pick in the 2016 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Vladislav Mikhalchuk, Josh Maser and Aaron Boyd also scored for Prince George on a night where they outshot Calgary 34-17.

Matteo Gennaro netted the lone goal for the Hitmen who after a scoreless first period trailed 4-1 after 40 minutes.

The Hitmen continue their BC road trip Wednesday in Kamloops before heading to Kelowna Friday.

Calgary returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, Oct. 15, to welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a 4:00 p.m. start. It will mark the second Sunday Funday, presented by Pocky, of the season. There will be face painters, concourse activities, lots of giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with your game ticket. Sunday Funday contests also feature a specially priced $8.99 ticket (plus applicable fees) for kids 12 and under.
