Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C - The Vancouver Giants lost their third game in a row, falling 3-1 to the visiting Prince George Cougars on Sunday afternoon at the Pacific Coliseum. The G-Men got their lone goal from Ty Ronning.
The Giants held most of the play in the first period, outshooting the Cougars 21-10. Early in the frame, Ronning was denied by Cougars goalie Ty Edmonds on a prime scoring chance. The Cougars opened the scoring minutes later when Aaron Boyd got his first of the season, putting the Cougars up 1-0 going into the intermission.
Prince George extended the lead to 2-0 midway through the middle frame. Brogan O'Brien potted his fourth of the season past Giants' goalie Payton Lee. Lee, however, kept the G-Men in the game in the dying stages of the period with a desperation glove save on a Cougars 2-on-1.
The G-Men cut the lead to 2-1 in the third when Ronning kept the puck and scored low on the blocker side on Edmonds on a 2-on-1. The Giants would take a crucial penalty late in the period and the Cougars would add an empty netter, scored by Jesse Gabrielle.
Giants' goaltender Payton Lee stopped 31 of the 33 shots in the loss.
The Giants are back in action this Wednesday night when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Puck drop is at 7:00pm. Children under the age of 12 who come to the game dressed in their Halloween costume will get in free! For tickets, visit TicketLeader.ca or call 604-4-GIANTS.
