Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release

LUBBOCK – The Lubbock Cotton Kings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kirk Tomlinson announced today the waiving of goaltender Rob Garrick.

Garrick was 0-5-0 as a Cotton King with a 5.75 goals against average and a save percentage of 80.5 percent.

"He didn't really click here," said Tomlinson. "His first start was against Laredo and we lost 11-1. When Symer (Symington) was injured or suspended, we looked to him to get us the wins and it didn't work out."

Garrick played for the Mississauga Ice Dogs in the Ontario Hockey League and the New Orleans Brass of the East Coast Hockey League in 2000-01. This year with the Corpus Christi Rayz, Garrick is 3-5-0 with a 3.32 goals against average and .902 save percentage.

The Kings are close to having a deal done with another goaltender. Details will be released as soon as the deal is finalized.

The Kings are at home for two games this weekend. The Kings will host the Tulsa Oilers on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. before heading on the road Saturday to face the Amarillo Gorillas. The Kings return home to play former Cotton King Joe Blaznek and the Wichita Thunder Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. Six of the remaining 10 games for the Cotton Kings are against current playoff teams.
