CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Corpus Christi FC has added Islam "Jimmy" Gamal to the staff as an Assistant Coach with a focus on strength and conditioning and goalkeeping. Gamal has achieved multiple championships in a short period of time and served as athletic trainer at some of the top clubs in Europe and Africa.

Most recently, Gamal served as the Performance Director for top-flight Egyptian club, Pyramids FC, the reigning winners of the CAF Champions League. In his two seasons with the club, they also won the Egypt FA Cup. Both were the first in club history.

Gamal has become well known in the world of sports performance.

"I'm excited to contribute to the growth of soccer in the United States, especially at such an important time with the upcoming World Cup," Gamal said. "Being part of a club that's focused on development, culture, and long-term impact in the region is something I'm truly proud of. I welcome this new challenge in my career."

Gamal has coached new stars and up-and-coming stars in the football world, having made stops at Real Madrid California Academy, Newcastle United FC (England), Al-Merrikh SC (Rwanda), Liverpool FC (England), Al-Ittihad Club (Saudi Arabia), Al-Masry SC (Egypt), Zed FC (Egypt) and the U-23 Egyptian National Team.

The Egyptian national played professionally in Egypt and Kuwait before finishing his career in the United States. Since then he has dug into his studies and completed a number of certifications: FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine, High-Performance Football Coaching Certificate from FSI Training, a UEFA C Coaching license among many other academic accomplishments. He's more than proficient in enhancing an athlete's conditioning and explosiveness, injury rehabilitation and load management.

Corpus Christi FC Head Coach and Sporting Director Éamon Zayed did not hesitate to bring Gamal onto his staff."I am delighted to welcome Jimmy as an extremely important piece of our technical staff," Zayed said. "His experience is of the highest level and I am a firm believer that in order to achieve success on the pitch, you need to have a support staff around the team that can lead the group to that success. We want to both develop players and bring a winning mentality on the pitch. If we are to be successful this season and beyond, I've no doubt Jimmy will play a pivotal role in creating a successful training environment and culture."
