Somerset Patriots News Release
Lancaster, Pennsylvania - The Somerset Patriots (25-20, 60-48) carrier a late rally to a 6-3 win over the Lancaster Barnstormers (22-19, 60-43) in Sunday's series-finale at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
The Barnstormers struck first for the first time in the series. Anderson De La Rosa's two-run double in the bottom of the second put them in front 2-0.
Vince Molesky settled down after the second, facing just two batters over the minimum over his next five innings, all scoreless. That set the stage for Somerset's comeback.
Joyce Boyd got the Patriots on the board with an RBI infield single in the top of the eighth inning. The next batter, former Barnstormer Nate Coronado, lined a three-run home run (9) opposite field over the right field fence to give Somerset a 4-2 lead.
Boyd came through again in the top of the ninth inning with a two-run double that gave the Patriots a 6-2 advantage. Trayvon Robinson (6) hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to bring Lancaster within three runs, but that topped off the scoring.
Molesky (5-2) allowed just two runs over seven innings with two walks and eight strikeouts to earn the win. Kevin Munson (7-4) gave up four runs on four hits in one inning of relief to take the loss.
The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues on the road until Tuesday, August 28th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for an 7:05 p.m. game against the Road Warriors. The game includes the third . For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
