CornBelters Winning Streak Ends at Lake Erie

AVON, Oh. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, ended a 10-game winning streak with a 7-2 loss to the Lake Erie Crushers on Tuesday night at All Pro Freight Stadium.

The CornBelters struck quickly with a two-run homer to right field by Aaron Dudley in the first inning.

The Crushers tied the game in the second inning by taking advantage of two walks and an error, then took a 3-2 lead in the third inning on an RBI double to the right field wall by Boo Vazquez. The hosts added an unearned run in the sixth by loading the bases beginning with a lead-off error and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Cody Stevens.

Chandler Brock gave the Crushers insurance in the eighth inning with an RBI triple, and scored on a base hit by Daniel Aldrich followed by an RBI fielder's choice by Trevor Stevens for a 7-2 lead.

Brad Duffy (8-3) took the win by pitching five innings, giving up three hits and both runs while walking five and striking out five. Robert Baroniel (2-3) took the loss with six innings of work, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

The teams rematch Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. Central as right-handers Mike Schweiss (6-7, 3.39 ERA) for Normal and Zach Morton (4-2, 3.37) for Lake Erie start on the mound.
