Normal CornBelters News Release

Normal, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have signed out-fielder Mike Mobbs. He played for the CornBelters during the 2011 season. The CornBelters will begin a three-game home stand at The Corn Crib on Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m. versus the Traverse City Beach Bums.

"Mike's having the best year in his career," said CornBelters Field Manager, Brooks Carey. "He was the leading hitter in the league he's coming from. We're very fortunate all the pieces fell into place, and we were able to acquire him quickly. We expect him to be a huge upgrade to our team."

Mobbs has played for the San Angelo Colts (United League Baseball) and Wichita Wingnuts (American Association of Independent Professional Baseball) this season. In 19 games with the Colts, he batted .388 with 31 hits, 18 runs, 12 RBI, five doubles, eight stolen bases and two home runs. He hit .333 in only four games with the Wingnuts.

Mobbs hit .288 with 74 hits, 36 runs, 35 RBI, 17 doubles, 11 stolen bases and seven home runs in 72 games for the CornBelters in 2011.
