Rockford Aviators News Release
NORMAL, IL - The Aviators fell to the CornBelters 14-3 Friday to open a 3-game set at the Corn Crib. The season series between the 2 squads is now tied at 2.
The Belters used 3 HR to put up 10 total runs, including 4 in the 2nd, off Aviator starter Kyle Hassna. It was the first time Hassna has surrendered more than 4 ER in a start this season.
The Aviators were held down by righty CornBelter starter Kevin Johnson until the 7th, when Justin Fox sent a homer of his own over the left center field wall. It was the 2nd longball of the season for Fox. Both homers have come off Normal.
Dusty Robinson and Elijah Trail would pick up RBI for the Aves in the 8th, but it was too little too late as the CornBelters were able to narrow the Rockford division lead to 2 games.
The two sides meet again tomorrow at 6:35. Nick Grim is expected to start for Rockford against Mike Schweiss for Normal.
