Wild Things Unload for 16 Hits in 8-4 Win over Schaumburg

Schaumburg, IL - The Wild Things defeated the Schaumburg Boomers 8-4 Friday night as they combined for 16 hits on the evening. Luke Wilkins received the win for the Wild Things while Evan Boyd took the mound loss.

The Wild Things took an early lead when Scott Kalamar launched a lead off home run to deep left center. Two batters later, Danny Poma hit a solo homer of his own to give the Wild Things a 2-0 lead which they held until the bottom of the fifth when the Boomers answered with three runs highlighted by a T.J. Bennet home run.

Washington would claw back in the top of the sixth when Scott Kalamar would drive in his second run of the night courtesy of an RBI single scoring Andrew Heck to tie the game at three apiece. In the seventh it would be Heck with a two run single giving the Wild Things a 5-3 lead.

The Boomers would get a run in the seventh but the Wild Things would answer in the top of the eighth adding two insurance runs thanks to an RBI double from David Popkins followed by an RBI single from Matt Ford. Every player in the Wild Things lineup recorded a hit Friday night.

The Wild Things added an insurance run in the ninth to secure the 8-4 win Friday night.
