Last time out...
The Florence Freedom (32-37), presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, fell to the Normal CornBelters (38-31) by a score of 9-1 Thursday night. Florence starter Tony Vocca (3-2) tossed four innings and allowed six runs to pick up his second loss of the season. Vocca worked three scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fourth, allowing six runs to cross the plate. Florence scored its only run of the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth. Frazier Hall led off with a walk and moved to second a Sam Eberle walk. Hall stole third to put himself 90 feet away from scoring. Ozzy Gonzalez drove Hall home on a sacrifice fly. Florence trailed 6-1 after four frames. The Freedom bullpen was called upon to pitch five innings. Austin Delmotte was very effective in his three innings on the bump, fanning four while not allowing a run. Pete Levitt allowed three runs to cross in his inning of work. Ed Kohout struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
For Starters...
Patrick McGrath is coming off an outstanding start against the Washington Wild Things on August 1. He went five and two thirds innings of shutout baseball, allowing only one hit. McGrath walked two and struck out eight in a no-decision as the Freedom fell 3-2 in 12 innings. McGrath led the Ohio Valley Conference in wins in 2015 with Belmont University as he posted a 9-4 record with a 4.40 ERA in 17 appearances, 13 starts. He garnered national attention when he beat SEC powerhouse Vanderbilt University twice.
Slamming Joliet...
The Freedom swept the Joliet Slammers to start the 2015 season back on May 14-16. They won games by scores of 3-1, 6-5 and 10-4. Last year the Freedom won both their series with Joliet, going 4-2, including 2-1 at Silver Cross Field.
Road Warriors...

Openers...

One-Run Woes...

Five is the magic number...
The Freedom are 23-3 when they score five or more runs in a game this season.
Fraga doing work...
Daniel Fraga is heating up, hitting .313 over the Freedom's past 10 games and he's hit safely in 9 of their last 10 contests.
That's offensive!

After that, the next highest batting average belongs to Ozzy Gonzalez at .212. The Freedom are hitting .242 as a team, the third lowest batting average in the league.
Mr. Clutch...
Collins Cuthrell leads active Freedom players with a .358 batting average with runners in scoring position this season. Meanwhile, the Freedom's leading hitter, Sam Eberle, is struggling with runners in scoring position, only hitting .212 after hitting .375 last year in that situation.
