Normal CornBelters News Release
CRESTWOOD, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by the Illinois Corn Farmers, won their fourth straight game and climbed back to .500 overall with a 9-5 win over the Windy City Thunderbolts at Standard Bank Stadium Tuesday night. It was the CornBelters' first win over the Thunderbolts after being swept at home by Windy City last week.
Dan Blewett pitched seven innings striking out nine hitters and giving up only one earned run to notch his first win of the season. Blewett got plenty of help from the Normal offense, with a pair of home runs from CornBelters' first basemen Steve Alexander (3), and a solo shot from Daniel Cox to up his total on the year to six. Alexander and Cox each had two hits apiece and Normal outfielder Asif Shah went 3-5 with a run scored. Chris Bennett finished up the game for Normal pitching the final two innings surrendering two earned runs.
Normal and Windy City meet again tomorrow with right-handed starter Kevin Kreier taking the mound and seeking his third win of the season. The game will be on WEZC and WJBC.com with pre-game starting at 6:45 pm and first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
