Coreau Shuts out Former Team in Rampage Win

SAN ANTONIO, TX - Jared Coreau stopped all 29 shots he face on Friday night at the AT&T Center, as the San Antonio Rampage (23-21-2) extended their home unbeaten streak to 14 games with a 2-0 win over the Western Conference leading Grand Rapids Griffins (26-15-7) in front of 11,524 fans for the ninth annual Pink in the Rink game.

Coreau, who was a member of the Griffins for parts of five seasons from 2013 to 2018, earned his second shutout in his last three outings while making his 11th consecutive start for San Antonio. Last Friday's effort was a silencing of another former team in the San Diego Gulls, with whom Coreau started the season. The effort against the Griffins was the 15th shutout of his professional career.

Sammy Blais and Adam Musil scored first period goals for the Rampage, who blanked the Griffins on home ice for the second time this season. The Rampage defeated Grand Rapids 4-0 on Oct. 6, which was the first game of the 2018-19 campaign.

Blais finished a power play feed from Jordan Kyrou at 7:37 of the first period for his sixth goal of the season and a 1-0 Rampage lead. Kyrou fed Blais in the right circle for a wrist shot that beat Griffins goaltender Harri Sateri, giving Blais 13 points in his last 13 AHL games.

Mitch Reinke also notched an assist on the play, his 27th point of the season to move within two points of the league scoring lead among rookie defensemen.

At 13:17 of the first, Musil buried the rebound of a Chris Butler shot for his fifth goal of the season to make it 2-0 San Antonio. Butler has five assists in his last five games and is now three points shy of 200 for his professional career.

The Rampage have earned six shutout victories this season- three for Jordan Binnington, one for Ville Husso, and two for Coreau.

The Rampage are 13-0-1 in their last 14 home games, extending their franchise-best unbeaten streak at the AT&T Center. With the victory, San Antonio moves within four points of a playoff spot.

The Rampage begin the ten-game "Rodeo Road Trip" next Friday with their first visit of the season to Wells Fargo Arena to take on the Iowa Wild. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the game available on the Ticket 760AM and on AHLTV.
