February 1, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose (20-19-3-2) battled back from a third period deficit to claim a 3-2 overtime victory against the Milwaukee Admirals (22-17-7-1) at UW-M Panther Arena on Friday evening. Despite a combined five power plays in the first period, neither team was able to find a goal with the man advantage. It was a defensive struggle, with each club registering just seven shots on goal. The Moose tallied the lone marker of the opening frame, with Felix Girard tipping a Peter Stoykewych point shot to the back of the net at 10:49 of the period.
Milwaukee tied the game just 29 seconds into the second frame as Jeremy Gregoire found his own rebound and popped it into the Moose goal. The home side took its first lead of the night seven minutes into the period when Yakov Trenin blasted a one-timer by Eric Comrie on the power play. The Moose had some push back late in the period, but were unable to find a tying marker as Milwaukee took a 2-1 advantage to the third.
The Moose were awarded a power play early in the final stanza, and made good on the opportunity. Seth Griffith set the table for Logan Shaw, who rifled a one-timer to the back of the net from the high-slot, just 2:06 into the period. Another stingy frame saw the teams combine for 13 shots on goal as the game rolled along into overtime. Manitoba dominated the extra frame, outshooting the Admirals 6-0 in overtime. The last of those shots went to Jansen Harkins who tapped in a Tucker Poolman rebound to send the Moose to the 3-2 victory.
