Normal CornBelters News Release

NORMAL, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by the Illinois Corn Farmers, suffered another tough loss, 5-1, in a sweep, as the Oakland County Cruisers completed the three-game sweep of Normal Thursday, thanks to untimely hitting from the Belters.

Normal had what they thought was a run in the third inning. It turned out not to be, as Kellen Kmiecik was ruled not to have touched third base as he came around to score. The Cruisers' appeal forced the umpires to call Kmiecik out. From there, the Belters didn't hit the ball at the right time as they left the bases loaded, ending the inning with back-to-back strikeouts with Daniel Cox and Steve Alexander.

Then in the fifth inning, the Belters left the bases loaded once again with two outs and Ross McCoy unable to get an RBI with runners in scoring position.

Starting pitcher Brett Lester couldn't hold off the Cruiser attack as he went 6-2/3 innings, giving up five hits, three runs and one walk, while striking out four batters.

The Belters hit the road next. They travel to Traverse City Friday with the game starting at 6:05 PM with the radio broadcast on WJBC.com and 95.9 FM beginning at 5:45 PM.
