Washington Wins on Walk-Off Home Run

(WASHINGTON, Penn.) - The Evansville Otters took a one run lead into the bottom of the 9th inning but a two

run walk-off home run from Eric Stephens sealed a 4-3 win for the Washington Wild Things.

The Evansville Otters fell behind 2-0 on an RBI single from John Delaney in the third inning and a solo home run form Chris Sidick in the fifth.

The Otters rallied back in the eighth inning when the team sent eight batters to the plate. Brandon Cohen ripped an RBI single to cut the lead down to one, and then Greg Alexander brought two more runs home with a single to left field. The base hit pushed Evansville ahead 3-2 and handed closer Nick Sottung the lead.

The right-hander pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth innings before allowing a leadoff single to Mark McGonigle in the ninth. A wild pitch moved the runner to second base when Eric Stephens ended the game with a two-run home run to right field.

Washington wins 4-3 and improves to 16-23 this season with the sweep. The Evansville Otters are now 14-25 this season after losing their last six games.

Evansville will continue the nine game roadtrip tomorrow when the team travels to Ohio to begin a three game series at the Lake Erie Crushers. All Pro Freight Stadium will host the matchup between the two teams with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM EST.
