SUGAR LAND, TX - Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters, earned a pivotal spot in the Semifinals of Ballpark Digest's recent poll of Independent Baseball's Best Ballparks. All four finalists came out of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and pinned the Sugar Land Skeeters vs. the Somerset Patriots and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs vs. the Lancaster Barnstormers. The Skeeters advanced to the semifinals and were ultimately outvoted by the Patriots, the defending contest champions.
Ballpark Digest is the leading web resource for ballpark news and coverage of the culture of baseball. In 2015, they ranked Constellation Field as one of the top four Independent ballparks and the fans support proved once again its loyalty to Sugar Land.
Constellation Field prides itself on being the home of the Sugar Land Skeeters as well as one of Houston's leading, state-of-the-art music and entertainment facilities. From J.J. Watt's Softball Charity Classic in 2013-2015 to the stadium's first Country at the Ballpark concert venture featuring Chris Young, the Eli Young Band and Cassadee Pope in 2015, Constellation Field exceeds the boundaries of baseball.
"Our main goal at Constellation Field is to give every fan and guest that walks through the front gates a quality experience that is memorable and surpasses their expectations," said Jay Miller, President of the Sugar Land Skeeters. "We are extremely lucky to have such a supportive fan base that loves this ballpark as much as we do."
With its Texas-shaped video board Constellation Field is a unique and fun ballpark. Some of the stadium's hotspots include the Bud Light Ice House located beyond centerfield featuring great beers on tap, grilled food, a Texas flag tin roof, flat-screen televisions and easy access to the kids splashpad and the Memorial Hermann Playland and carousel. The Kids Zone Inflatable Zone on the first base pad entertains kids of all ages and the Wells Fargo Picnic area even includes a Premier Pools and Spa pool - perfect for a birthday party or family outing.
As the 2016 Skeeters baseball season continues, the Skeeters host a bevy of family-fun activities designed to entertain every one in the family this summer including a postgame concert featuring the Spazmatics (August 8), Star Wars Night (August 19) and a Selfie Stick Giveaway (August 20) sponsored by Constellation Energy.
