
Connor and Letunov Named to All-USHL Teams

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The United States Hockey League (USHL) has announced that forward Kyle Connor has been named to the All-USHL First Team, and forward Max Letunov has been named to the All-USHL Second Team. The pair were instrumental to the success of the Phantoms this season, combining for 144 points (59g, 85a) this season, and helping lead the team to its first-ever Anderson Cup, which is presented to the USHL regular season champion.
Connor claimed the USHL scoring title this season, accounting for 34 goals and 46 assists, for 80 points. The University of Michigan commit led the League in many offensive categories, including goals, assists, points, power play assists (25), and game-winning goals (9). Additionally, Connor tied for the League-lead in power play points with 32 (7g, 32a).
A native of Shelby Township, MI, Connor became just the third player in League history to score 50 career goals before his 18th birthday, and also became the Phantoms' all-time goal scoring and points leader. He finished off his USHL career with 82 goals and 113 assists for 195 total points in 174 career games, and is projected to be taken in the top half of the first round in the upcoming NHL Draft in June.
This marks the fourth honor of the offseason for Connor, who received the Dave Tyler Award, presented by USA Hockey to the best American-born player in all of junior hockey, and he was also named USHL Player and USHL Forward of the Year. This is the second consecutive All-USHL honor for Connor, who was also named to the All-USHL First Team last season.
Letunov set career highs in both goals (25), assists (39), and points (64) this season, and he saw a 21-point improvement from a season ago. The Moscow, RUS, native was a consistent offensive force all season long for the Phantoms, recording points in 42 of his 58 games played. He posted point streaks of four games or more on five separate occasions, including a career-high 11-game point streak from February 8-March 20, accounting for eight goals and nine assists.
Committed to Boston University, Letunov was a force on the power play as well, tying for fifth in the League with 11 goals, and ninth with 15 assists. His offensive prowess caught the attention of NHL management this season as well, as he was the focal point of a deal between the St. Louis Blues; the team that drafted him in the 2014 NHL Draft, and the Arizona Coyotes, who acquired his rights for an established NHL defenseman. He concludes his USHL career having amassed 44 goals and 63 assists for 107 points, in 118 career games.
