Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, Michigan (May 28th) - In conjunction with the United States Hockey League's announcement of the league's postseason All-USHL First, Second, and Third Team honors, the Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that three players in Eric Schierhorn (First Team), Christian Wolanin (Second Team), and Corey Schueneman (Third Team) have earned a spot on an All-USHL Team for their respective 2014-15 seasons.
Schierhorn, the Anchorage, Alaska native, claims All-USHL First Team honors following a 26-win regular season between the pipes that ranked fourth among all league netminders along with adding six more victories during the recent 2015 Clark Cup Playoff run. In addition, the Minnesota commit placed in the top five in appearances (tied for fifth with 43), minutes played (tied for fifth at 2560:46), saves (first with 1,352), and save percentage (first at .927). The 2014-15 USHL Goaltender of the Year and five-time Goaltender of the Week honoree amassed 52 wins during his two years in Muskegon while setting two new single season records in both wins and save percentage.
Wolanin, the Rochester, Michigan native, earns All-USHL Second Team recognition after totaling 41 points (14 goals, 27 assists) to go with a plus-14 rating in 56 regular season contests that ranked fifth among all USHL defensemen. Also, the North Dakota commit's 14 goals and 27 assists came in second and seventh, respectively. During his three-year USHL tenure, the one-time Defenseman of the Week amassed 70 of his 84 career points in 100 games as a Lumberjack that includes setting a new team mark in overall scoring by a Lumberjacks blueliner during a single campaign passing the original record set by Alexx Privitera (34 points in 2010-11). Since the organization joined the USHL, Wolanin's 70 points is the most tallied by a Lumberjacks defenseman during their time along the lakeshore.
Schueneman, the Milford, Michigan native, garners a spot on the All-USHL Third Team in which the defenseman posted a 46-point regular season (16 goals, 30 assists) in 58 games combined between Des Moines and Muskegon that sat second among all league blueliners. The Western Michigan commit also led the way in goals scored and power play points (21) along with his 30 helpers coming in a tie for fourth. Schueneman, a three-time winner of the league's Defenseman of the Week honor, appeared in 26 career games as a Lumberjack recording 6 goals and 13 assists that included leading the team in scoring during the 2015 Clark Cup Playoffs averaging a point per game (four goals, eight assists) in 12 postseason contests.
