The Condors open up a two-game set with the Ontario Reign on the weekend for the second and third games of a six-game home stand. The teams have met eight times previously and will conclude their 10-game season series this weekend. Bakersfield has suffered seven consecutive setbacks to Ontario since opening the season with a 5-4 victory on Oct. 14.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Bakersfield began a six-game home stand with a wild 7-6 loss on Wednesday night against the Alaska Aces. The Condors trailed 5-2 at one point in the second period, but came all the way back to tie the game at 5-5 in the third. Former Condor Dan Kissel scored late in the period though to help give the Aces the victory. LW Jesse Gimblett and RW Tyler Helfrich each recorded two-goal games while D Justin Pender notched three assists.
Ontario had the mid-week off after hosting the Colorado Eagles twice last weekend. They fell on Friday, 6-4, but rebounded with a 4-2 win on Saturday night. D Mike Montgomery scored his first goal of the season on Saturday and Chris Carrozzi stopped 30 shots in that contest for his seventh win of the season.
CONDORS NOTES
RW Tyler Helfrich has points in 11 of his last 14 games played dating back to Dec. 21. He has 16 points (6g-10a) during that time...C Aaron Lewadniuk has five points (1g-4a) in six games since being acquired from Idaho...F Parker Stanfield scored his second goal of the season and first on home ice on Wednesday...The Condors recorded two PPG in a game for the fifth time this season in the 7-6 loss...C Robby Dee arrived from Abbotsford on Wednesday at 5:50 p.m. and played that night. He scored his first AHL goal last Saturday and appeared in three games with the Heat.
REIGN NOTES
Ontario is 11-1-1-0 when leading after one period. That record improves to 17-1-2-0 when leading after two periods of play...F Derek Couture has five assists in his last four games played...The Reign are 2nd in the ECHL at 87.0% on the penalty kill..D Steven Tarasuk is tied for 8th in the ECHL in scoring among defensemen (23 points)...G Chris Carrozzi is 5th in the ECHL with a 2.24 GAA...Ontario is 6-2-1-1 in their last 10 games.
