Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - After five straight and 15 of the last 18 games on the road, the Bakersfield Condors are ready to return to home ice and open a three game homestand with matches on Friday and Saturday night. Both games start at 7:00 p.m. at Centennial Garden.
The Condors host the Fresno Falcons on Friday night for the teams' second meeting in the last four days. That night, after the game everyone in attendance is welcome to stick around for a free concert with national Christian recording artists Hawk Nelson. The punk quartet from Ontario, Canada is currently on tour in the states and their next stop will be atop Section 116 immediately following the contest. Hawk Nelson appears courtesy of KKEY-TV 11, KDUV 100.1 and Island Style. They will also play during the second intermission and sign autographs after the show, as well as play their hit song "California," a top-10 hit on the KDUV's Christian rock charts.
Super Fan Cameron Hughes will make his celebrated return to Bakersfield on Friday as well. We dare to you NOT to be entertained as he works his hilarity over the crowd. One member of the 2004- 05 Condors squad will be presented with the Kern Trophies Condor of the Month trophy as well during the first intermission. Fans select the Condor of the Month in an online poll at www.bakersfieldcondors.com. The current online web poll asks fans to select their favorite of the 2004-05 Condors jerseys.
On Saturday the Condors prepare for a showdown with the first place Long Beach Ice Dogs, who handed the Condors a 3-2 overtime loss in their last home game on January 28th. The first 2,005 fans through the gates will get a brand new shiny US Mint-issued 2005 California state quarter in a limited edition collector's case, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and National Staffing. Recently released into circulation by the US Mint on January 31st, California was next on the list of states, and the quarter features a condor soaring above the Yosemite landscape.
In addition, Saturday's game is also a THINK Night, providing complimentary terrace tickets to students involved with the THINK program. The THINK (Turning Hockey Into New Knowledge) Program rewards elementary students with tickets to select Condors games for their exceptional performance in the classroom. The THINK program is made possible by Catholic Healthcare West Hospitals, the Department of Public Health and ARRC Technology. As with all THINK Nights, parents of students receiving the complimentary vouchers can purchase terrace level tickets for themselves for the group rate of $5.
The Condors Coach's Show airs every Thursday on KGEO live from the Holiday Inn Select next door to Centennial Garden. The show features a regular visit from Head Coach Marty Raymond and is hosted by the Voice of the Condors Kevin Bartl. This week's featured guest is rookie winger Brett Lutes. The Condors Coach's Show airs live tonight from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on KGEO AM 1230.
